Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 November 2026

These terms apply when you create an account or use AuthorGem, a service that writes and lays out nonfiction books with the help of artificial intelligence. By using AuthorGem you agree to them.

1. Who can use AuthorGem

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use AuthorGem. AuthorGem is not intended for, or directed at, anyone under 18.

If you use AuthorGem on behalf of a company, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.

2. Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has access to it. One account is for one person or one business – sharing an account to get around plan limits is not allowed.

3. Plans, payment and cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and include a set number of new books per calendar month, as described on the pricing page. The count starts over on the 1st of each month; unused books do not carry over. A book counts when you start it, also if you delete it later. Editing and exporting books you have already made does not count.

You can cancel at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again. Payments already made are not refunded, except where the law says otherwise.

We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; the new price applies from your next billing period after the notice.

Bonus features, such as the cover designer, are included at no extra cost and may have fair-use limits to prevent abuse.

4. AI-generated content – please read

AuthorGem uses artificial intelligence to plan, write, check and lay out books, and to create cover images. AI can be wrong. Even with AuthorGem's checks, a book can contain errors, outdated facts, inaccurate references or text that resembles other works.

You must read and review every book before you publish, sell or rely on it. You are the author and publisher, and you decide what is published under your name.

Books on health, medicine, law, finance or other areas where mistakes can cause harm are information only. AuthorGem does not give professional advice, and its books must not be presented as a replacement for it.

5. Who owns the books

Between you and AuthorGem, you own the books and covers you create – the text, the files and your own images. We claim no ownership of them.

You give us permission to store and process your content only as needed to run the service for you – for example to write, check, save and export your books. We do not publish your books or use them to market AuthorGem without your permission.

Because AI can produce similar text for different users, we cannot promise that your content is unique or that it can be protected by copyright in every country.

6. Publishing on Amazon KDP and other stores

AuthorGem is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Amazon. Amazon, Kindle and KDP are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. The same applies to Apple Books, Draft2Digital and other stores.

You are responsible for following the rules of every store you publish in, including Amazon KDP's content guidelines and its requirement to disclose AI-generated text and images. We cannot guarantee that a store accepts, keeps or promotes your book, or how well it sells.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use AuthorGem to:

  • create content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual content involving minors, or that promotes violence or self-harm;
  • copy or infringe other people's books, trademarks or other rights, or pass off someone else's work as your own;
  • impersonate a real person or invent credentials, reviews or endorsements;
  • produce misleading health, medical or financial claims, or spam stores with low-effort duplicates;
  • try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around the limits or security of the service, or resell access to it.

Our AI and data providers have their own usage policies, which also apply to content created through AuthorGem.

8. Third-party services

AuthorGem relies on third parties for hosting, storage, sign-in, payments, artificial intelligence and reference checks. They process content only to provide their part of the service. See the Privacy Policy for details.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep AuthorGem available and your books safe, but the service is provided "as is" and may sometimes be slow, interrupted or changed. AI providers can be busy, which may delay a book. Keep your own copies of exported files.

We may improve, change or remove features. If we make a change that takes away a substantial part of what you pay for, you may cancel and we will refund any unused prepaid period.

10. Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or puts the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your books.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, AuthorGem is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost sales, lost profits, rejected or removed books, or claims from third parties about content you published. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it applies. If you keep using AuthorGem after that, the new terms apply.
